Wild Air

Wild Air is the new solo project of singer-songwriter Jonathan Cour.

Born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, Jonathan’s passion and love for music have authentic hometown roots. His talent was nurtured from a young age by his mother, a school music teacher. She taught him his first chords, and he would go on to make her proud, mastering the guitar and drums.

He quickly outgrew the garage band drum kit, and earned frontman status, refining his vocals and tapping into an innate knack for songwriting. Over the years, Jonathan's artistry in performing and recording drew industry attention and led him to travel the country to collaborate with some of the hottest producers and most decorated songwriters including Desmond Child, Rick Beato and Zac Maloy. He headlined intimate venues and logged countless studio hours.

After taking an intentional pause from music to focus on raising two boys with his perennial muse/wife, Jonathan began to feel the familiar pull of the studio, along with a renewed sense of purpose. With the help of engineer and co-producer Daniel Mehrmann, Jonathan spent 5 days at Midtown Sound House in February 2021, recording 6 songs that would become The Small Waves E.P.

The Small Waves E.P. combines the musical elements of rock, pop, r&b, and reggae.  Each song introduces new sounds, evokes vivid scenes, and journals an emotional range that is grounded in wistful and feel-good moments. The self titled track, “Small Waves”, is a rhythmic anthem showcasing Jonathan’s background in percussion; “Good Good”, a feel-good, glass half full jam, written in a classic 60's rhythm & blues style; and the bittersweet ballad “Love Gone”, a song drawing inspiration from his own modern romance and that of  his grandparents who endured the highs and lows of life and love together through 63 years of marriage.
